Time is Slow / Meet You in My Prime - Prologue

Dark clouds loomed overhead, and flags waved in the wind.

Amid the snow and ice, Yan City appeared as a solitary island, encircled by the armies of Great Liang.

The youthful general was clad in silver armor, a vivid red cloak billowing behind him. He raised his hand and commanded in a voice colder than the winter chill: "Launch the attack!"

As he spoke those words, a ferocious battle cry erupted.

There was a stir on the already weakened city wall, followed by a sharp shout from the Northern Qi commander: "General Shao, take a look. It's not too late to call off the assault on the city!"

At that moment, a woman was brought forward to stand on the city wall.

Her long black hair was slicked behind her ears, unveiling a smooth and pristine face. The icy northern wind struck her delicate features, enhancing the redness of her lips and the pallor of her complexion, akin to a jade lotus sealed in ice-simple yet strikingly beautiful.

The atmosphere became tense.

The young, handsome general showed no sign of emotion and raised his hand once more.

The troops beneath the city advanced another step, their stifled yet resolute energy sending shivers of fear through those on the wall.

The Northern Qi general yanked the woman closer and thrust her in front of him, shouting furiously: "General Shao, observe carefully; this is your wife. If you withdraw your forces, I will guarantee her safety. Otherwise, she will perish!"

The young general was taken aback.

A subordinate alongside him murmured, "General, it is indeed your wife."

He tightened his grip on the reins and cast a long, contemplative look at the woman on the wall.

This was his wife after all.

As if sensing his gaze, she turned slightly to meet his eyes from afar.

The north had suffered relentless raids from the Northern Qi; now, with the city's fall, she was acutely aware of the blood of soldiers that had been spilt for their cause. How could she expect them to halt their mission because of her?

Though she was a woman, her loyalty to her country remained unshaken.

And the young general, who instilled fear in the hearts of the Northern Qi soldiers-her husband, whom she was seeing so clearly for the first time-would not forsake the chance to reclaim the city simply for her sake.

The woman attempted to speak.

However, the biting cold and her long silence rendered her momentarily speechless.

Just then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw an arrow approaching swiftly, followed by a sharp pain.

Instinctively, she lowered her head, realizing blood gushed from her chest. The warmth of her blood quickly froze in the frigid air.

That scoundrel didn't even allow her a chance to defend herself!

She thought bitterly at the brink of death.

"General..."

The young general's subordinates could not hold back their cries.

With composure, the young general retracted his bow, his gaze lowering to shield any hint of guilt. He coldly repeated his earlier command: "Launch the attack!"

...

In early spring of the twenty-fifth year of the Mingkang era, Yancheng was reclaimed by Great Liang. Shao Ming Yuan, the second son of Marquis Jing'an and commander of the Northern Expedition Army, was honored with the title of Marquis Guanjun and triumphantly returned to the capital.

Meanwhile, his wife, Lady Qiao, left her passion behind on the city wall of Yan.
